Cast steel is steel used to cast castings. A type of casting alloy. Cast steel is divided into three categories: cast carbon steel, cast low-alloy steel, and cast special steel. ① Cast carbon steel Cast steel with carbon as the main alloying element and containing a small amount of other elements. Low carbon steel is cast with a carbon content of less than 0.2%, medium carbon steel is cast with a carbon content of 0.2% to 0.5%, and high carbon steel is cast with a carbon content greater than 0.5%. With the increase of carbon content, the strength and hardness of cast carbon steel increase. Cast carbon steel has high strength, plasticity, and toughness, and is low-cost. It is used in heavy machinery to manufacture parts that can withstand high loads, such as rolling mill frames and hydraulic press bases; Used in railway vehicles to manufacture parts that are subjected to high stress and impact, such as rocking pillows, side frames, wheels, and couplers. ② Casting low-alloy steel Cast steel containing alloying elements such as manganese, chromium, copper, etc. The total amount of alloying elements is generally less than 5%, which has high impact toughness and can achieve better mechanical properties through heat treatment. Casting low-alloy steel has better performance than carbon steel, which can reduce the quality of parts and improve their service life. ③ Casting special steel Alloy cast steel refined to meet special needs has a wide variety of varieties, usually containing one or more high amounts of alloying elements to achieve certain special properties. For example, high manganese steel containing 11% to 14% manganese can withstand impact wear and is commonly used for wear-resistant parts in mining and construction machinery; Various stainless steels with chromium or chromium nickel as the main alloying elements, used for parts that work under corrosive or high temperature conditions above 650 ℃, such as chemical valve bodies, pumps, containers, or turbine casings for large capacity power plants.
